Any award show in Hollywood is a perfect opportunity for stars and starlets and those who want to become them to set themselves into scene. Whether sporting a completely new look, scandalous outfit or a new partner at their side – celebrities and their teams know how you make a splash. The best stage for this was at the BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS that were now presented in Las Vegas. Who actually won plays less of a role. Much more important: who was fashionably fabulous and who a total flop?
Camila Cabello: single and getting around stylishly!
Camila Cabello might not be a name people older than 25 know, but when you ask the teens of the world, you will hear an enthusiastic shriek. For four years, Camila Cabello was a member of the band FIFTH HARMONY, one of the most successful girl bands of the past 15 years. Together, the girls sold more than 10 million records until they split in November 2016. Camila now launched her solo career and presented her first own single “Crying in the Club”. On the red carpet, however, she had no reason to cry because she shined in a red dress by designer Jonathan Simkhai.
Drake: 13 reasons to be happy!
He came, saw and conquered! Drake was the biggest winner of the night and took away 13 awards, including one for best album, best single and best male artist. He accepted the awards beaming – not only with his smile but also in his all-white look.
Celine Dion: pop but not fashion icon!
Une superbe soirée aux #BBMAs où Céline rendait hommage au 20e anniversaire du film Titanic et de la chanson #MyHeartWillGoOn. A wonderful night at the #BBMAs where Céline got to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the movie Titanic and the song #MyHeartWillGoOn. Celine Dion has been one of the most accomplished singers of the past 30 years. No wonder that her Las Vegas show practically sold out all by itself. At the Billboard Music Awards, she celebrated the 20-year anniversary of her song “My Heart Will Go On”. The musical performance was a dream but the outfit not so much. You could not really tell what the dress was supposed to be about. The over dimensioned shoulders and the gold in the middle of the dress – a bit too much. Something classy and simple would have done!
Rita Ora: eye-catcher but for the wrong reasons
Rita Ora is usually always seen super stylish outfits! No surprise, because she designs her own collections for TEZENIS and ADIDAS. But a lot went wrong with this outfit. The outfit was inspired – as she said herself – by Cher. But will the pop icon feel flattered by this homage? We doubt it. The mesh skirt with embroideries and the oversized sweater do not go together at all. What did she accomplish with it though? Being the absolute centre of attention, because such a bare behind always gets press coverage.
Here they are now: the best and worst looks of the Billboard Music Awards 2017. We are sure there will be a plenty of thrilling appearances to marvel at again next year!
